Toe-side, heel-side, & heal-side

I visited my friend Lisa in Salt Lake City this past weekend. Salt Lake City is prettier than I had imagined. And I must have made it into the gods' favour, because it snowed the morning we were scheduled to go snowboarding. Unfortunately, since Blaire broke her arm last December in Mexico falling off a horse, she was unable to join us on the slopes.
I obviously need to get back to the gym because even after a few hours on the snowboard (letting gravity take its toll more often than not), I was exhausted. Our instructor, Doug, taught us toe-side and heel-side approaches to gliding down the slopes. It was almost embarassing having little children who were obviously more qualified on their boards speed past.
Salt Lake confirmed for me that I prefer mountains/forests to beaches. I guess I prefer them because there's a point to them, literally. Otherwise, you're at the beach looking out on a flat ocean of nothing, albeit pretty. Need I mention how bothersome sand can be?
I'm not sure if I prefer skiing to snowboarding, and I am no expert at either of them. Nevertheless, the pain in my rear from falling down over and over and over and over again will not deter me from trying them again. Just give me a few weeks to heal my back-side before I even think about approaching a lift again.
